Stoneware Care & Safety

Instructions on how to care for your stoneware holder to safely maximse its longevity and your fragrance experience.

The 'Chalk Group' is the rock strata found in southern England, in particular the New Forest coastline. The 'Chalk' rock sequences are characterised by the physical characteristics of colour, texture, grain size and composition. The primary characteristic is soft porous limestone with signs of bedding in the form of flint nodules and finely grained mudstone. These distinctive sedimentary rock formations are prominent on the rugged cliff face and clifftops of the New Forest and the landmark Needles on the Isle of Wight, visible from many parts of the coastline.

All of our stoneware is made with a low emission, sustainable and natural, water-based material that can be reused, making it safer for the environment. The material is a natural low-hazard sulphate mineral, typically sourced from sedimentary rock with a water based chemical composition that emits no toxic fumes and it extremely durable and flame resistant. There is no other sulphate mineral found in more abundance on the planet, resulting in a highly sustainable product and limited environmental output. Both the candle and diffuser holder are designed with a miniumum thickness of 7.5mm to ensure safety when handling. Our stoneware requires little maintenance and if cared for properly can endure for decades.

Our stoneware holders are individually designed, moulded and finished by hand so small surface imperfections may occur due to the unique nature of the material and moulding process. Whilst each stoneware holder is sealed to protect from stains and water damage, they are designed for decorative use only so they are not dishwasher safe and should not be submerged in water. To remove dirt or marks, wipe with a warm soapy cloth. Whilst hard wearing, stoneware should be handled with care to avoid any chips or damage.
